Breaded Deep-Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients
1/2 C self-rising flour
1/2 C club soda
Sprinkle of garlic salt
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms

Directions
Wash and drain mushrooms on a paper towel.
In a bowl, blend flour, club soda, and garlic salt til smooth.
Dip mushrooms in batter and deep fry at 350 until golden, about 3-5 minutes.

Notes
Recipe handed down by my Mom. She notes you can use sliced or whole mushrooms, and that half a batch worked well for our family. There's also some notes here that (I think) were for what to do when you don't have self-rising flour. I'm not sure which grouping worked best or if that's what the notes were for at all.

Group 1
4 C flour
2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp baking powder

Group 2
1 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
