Ingredients
2 3/4 C flour
4 C powdered sugar
2 1/4 tsp salt
3 C shortening
1 Tbsp vanilla
Directions
Sift together flour, sugar and salt.
Add shortening and vanilla.
Mix till well blended.
Shape as desired
Refrigerate/Freeze til firm
Bake @ 350 degrees for abt 10 min.
Notes
I found 375 worked a bit better for these. If you over cook (I did about 15 min @ 400), they get very hard and hollow inside, good for dipping in milk. They're also way salty, but with very little other flavor. I leave the salt out completely and add other stuff. Almond flavoring is good (1 TBSP), so is zest of 1 orange with a bit of coconut, though that gets REALLY sweet.
